In Loving Memory Of
Leonard Young, Sr.

Obituary

On April 19, 1932, Leonard Young was born to King Solomon & Sammie Young in Corinth, Mississippi. From this union, we're also born three sisters, Irma Lee (Young) Chambers (deceased), Katie Mae (Young) McCane (deceased), Katherine Young (Underwood) (deceased) and one brother, Joseph Young (deceased). Sammie later remarried Mr. Audie Johnson and from that union there were born William Johnson, Robert Wayne Johnson (deceased), Mary Evelyn Johnson (deceased) and Johnny Johnson.

Leonard, affectionally known as “Brother”, was a graduate of the Negro School and was an outstanding campus football player. He was the pride and joy of his father being the firstborn man child and is father made sure that his son dressed in style (a trait passed on to his children) even buying him his 1st Ford automobile at the age of 13. He was a lover of clean cars, a trait that he definitely passed on to his sons.

He met and later married Everlene Chambers on July 8,1952 and from that union was born two sons, Charles E. Young (deceased) and Leonard Young Jr. (deceased), and two daughters, Linda J. Adams (Young) and Kimberly R. Young and Barbra Anderson. Both Everlene and Leonard had a great sense of style, a trait passed on to their children. Leonard was a wonderful husband, father and provider of his family, at times even working two jobs to support them.

He was very well liked by all who met him, many outside of the family affectionally calling him “Dad”. He also held a special place in the hearts of his in-laws, Ludie, Brenda and James as well as the rest of the family who are no longer with us. Though not one of Jehovah's Witnesses himself, he certainly supported us in our efforts to become Jehovah's Witnesses. He worked long hours and more than one job to make sure that we were able to attend, not only our meetings, but our assemblies and conventions, even attending with us as well. The brothers and sisters were so attached to him, many affectionally called him “Dad” also which also testifies to the type of man he was.

Leonard leaves to mourn his devoted children, Linda Young (Adams) (Leonard-deceased), Kimberly R. Young, (Charles Young-deceased) (wife Deborah), 2 grand daughters Monica Young and Shante’ Young Walker (Marsean), 1 great-granddaughter Chenelle Bruton, his loving brothers, William Johnson and Johnny Johnson (wife Pam) along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
